I don’t want to gross people out, but I heavily rely on Tylenol during my monthly menstrual cycle to eliminate cramping.
So imagine how I felt on a recent grocery shopping trip when I looked at the empty Tylenol shelves and the store manager told me the over-the-counter drug had been recalled. Luckily, it wasn’t my time of the month for a couple weeks to give me time to find an alternative pain medication.
I was unaware of Tylenol’s original recall in January because stores still carried it on the shelf. The latest Tylenol recall includes 21 lots of over-the-counter medicine, including Tylenol Extra Strength, Benadryl Allergy and Motrin, in countries, such as the U.S., Puerto Rico, Fiji and Jamaica. Tylenol’s products are being recalled because of consumer complaints of a musty, moldy odor tied to a chemical that doesn’t meet FDA standards.
McNeil Consumer Healthcare has posted comprehensive information on each of Tylenol’s recalled medication on its web site, and here is a complete listing of the recalled Tylenol meds and the affected countries.
Meanwhile, I have found Bayer to be a worthy replacement until Tylenol remedies its defects. I wonder how parents of infants and toddlers are coping since Children’s Tylenol and Motrin are part of the recall.By Teneshia LaFaye
