Russian Roulette is usually played out in movies during gangster shakedowns, and it’s a common form of suicide for real-life soldiers and police officers. The game entails loading a single bullet into a six-round gun and pulling the trigger to decide whether you live or die.
Singer and actor Ne-Yo decided to make the deadly game into an art form by writing the song “Russian Roulette”, and the Grammy Award winning songwriter immediately imagined mysterious, sexy singer Rihanna sitting across a table from someone with a gun between them.
Well, it’s not too hard to imagine Rihanna across the table in a civil dispute because she acted out a similar scene in a music video with Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine in the remix of the band’s hit song, “If I Never See Your Face Again”.
Not long before, Rihanna recorded a video with Ne-Yo for their hit duet, “Hate That I Love You”, that Ne-Yo penned. Ne-Yo also wrote Rihanna’s hit song, “Take a Bow”.

So Rihanna didn’t hesitate when Ne-Yo asked her to sing “Russian Roulette”, and the song is the first release from her fourth album Rated R, due out Nov. 23.

  • Rihanna stops fans from waiting

    The wait is over.
Rihanna is finally releasing her new album that is being marketed as The Wait is Ova. The album’s release is scheduled for Nov. 23, just in time for a family member to buy it for me as a Christmas present. I’m not really materialistic so I always tell my family to get me CDs for my favorite artists as gifts.
This is Rihanna’s fourth album and her first in two years, but it seems like an eternity.
When her last album, Good Girl Gone Bad came out in 2007, the first release “Umbrella” took over the airwaves. I recall my excitement every time “Umbrella” came on the radio while riding down Mullholland Drive and Sunset Boulevard in the then-new Lexus IS F while looking for celebrity mansions in Beverly Hills and the Hollywood Hills. At the time, I was visiting Beverly Hills to be honored as one of the top sellers of health and life insurance and I’ve since been a top producer in the Medicare field for the last two years.
Anyways, little did I know that Rihanna was renting a house in the Hollywood Hills at the time, and that she would later get in a violent altercation with former boyfriend Chris Brown in another exclusive L.A. neighborhood.
The incident with her ex gave Rihanna a break from singing songs that she had grown tired of, such as “Umbrella” which she actually recorded three years ago.

For most of the year, Rihanna’s personal life has overshadowed her career with headlines on Brown’s trial for assaulting her, her romantic encounters with newcomer Drake and Justin Timberlake and her various hairdos.
Rihanna’s only performances since the Brown incident have been a couple of televised appearances with her “big brothers” Jay-Z and Kanye West for their collaboration, “Run This Town”. She had taken a six-month break from performing and canceled her concerts following the incident with Brown on the eve of the Grammy Awards in February.
So I’m excited that the wait is over and Rihanna fans, including me, get to hear some new material from the Barbados-born beauty who has been a crossover hit-making machine with songs, such as “S.O.S.”, “Umbrella”, “Shut Up and Drive”, “Please Don’t Stop the Music” and “Take a Bow”. On the new album, Rihanna has collaborated with Drake, Ne-Yo and Tyson from All-American Rejects.
