The stars literally have aligned in Michael Jackson’s favor.
First, the deceased King of Pop was honored on Sunday with a captivating 3-D tribute featuring Celine Dion, Smokey Robinson, Usher, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson to bestow the Grammys’ Lifetime Achievement Award.
Then, mega singers, rappers and actors united this week to remake “We Are the World”, a song MJ and Lionel Richie co-wrote in 1985 for USA for Africa to address famine in Ethiopia.
An accompanying video for the remake will be produced in 3-D and premiere on Feb. 12 to raise money for Haiti relief. Some of the featured singers are Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Gladys Knight, Toni Braxton, Usher, Lady Gaga, Pink, Kanye West, Jennifer Hudson, Lil Wayne, Jordin Sparks, Jeff Bridges, Tyrese and Wyclef Jean, a native of Haiti.
And in another move in Michael’s favor, police finally brought criminal charges against Dr. Conrad Murray, the doctor responsible for Michael Jackson’s fatal prescription overdose last June, and Dr. Murray turned himself in Tuesday.By Teneshia LaFaye
