It’s refreshing that I Get Money rapper 50 Cent loves another kind of green.
The hard-core rapper and businessman, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, has joined Grammy Award winning singer and Tony/Emmy Award winning actress Bette Midler to create more green spaces in New York City.
Fiddy, 33, accompanied Midler, 63, on Tuesday to the Eighth Annual Spring Picnic at NYC’s Fort Tryon Park to raise money for her environmental group, New York Restoration Project. Midler’s non-profit organization is dedicated to developing and revitalizing parks, community gardens and public spaces.
Midler and Jackson originally collaborated in November 2008 when she cut the ribbon on The Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson Community Garden, a public garden in the childhood neighborhood in Jamaica, Queens, where the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ rapper used to deal drugs. He funded the garden through his G-Unity Foundation.
The rapper and singer have formed a friendship in the process and have discussed a music collaboration.
“Little Jewish lady and the great big rapper,” Midler said. “He’s such a doll. I love him. He’s gorgeous. I was hoping we’d sing songs from the Depression, but he’s so young that I don’t think he knows any of them. I’m going to have to check things out and see what he feels like singing.”
When they finally do come out of the studio, I’m sure the song will produce a lot more green for the unlikely duo.By Teneshia LaFaye
