  • Jay-Z watches helplessly while Beyonce nearly killed in London crash

    Jay-Z and Beyonce in London
The world almost lost a young star when Grammy Award winning singer and movie star Beyonce was nearly run over while getting out of a chauffeur-driven Mercedes S Class in London on Friday.
On the way to dinner at a Japanese restaurant, B and her hip hop mogul husband Jay-Z made an unscheduled stop outside of Harrods luxury department store. As Beyonce opened the car door on the street, a taxi slammed into the door.
Beyonce seemed “very shaken and was lucky to be alive”.
Where was Beyonce’s chauffeur? Why didn’t he open the door for Beyonce? Why did Jay allow his wife to get out on the street?
When Beyonce was in London last year for her “I Am… Sasha Fierce” tour, she decided not to walk across the street to a department store and instead rode in one of two chauffeured limos to cross the street.
Considering her nearly fatal incident on her latest British shopping trip, Beyonce definitely needs curbside assistance to stay out of harm’s way while shopping on the streets of London.
A pastor where I live in Jacksonville wasn’t so lucky on Saturday. He is in critical condition after being struck by a speeding car while crossing the street after exiting a church bus to pass out flyers for vacation Bible school.

  • Betty White clowns on Facebook users, teams with Jay-Z (video) for record show appearance

    May 11th, 2010Teneshia LaFayeEntertainment, Jay-Z

Betty White didn’t upstage over-the-top, insanely hilarious Saturday Night Live star Kristen Wiig, but the seven-decade television legend definitely outshined SNL alums Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon and Tina Fey, who returned to the show this past weekend to perform alongside the comedic icon.
My favorite Betty White moment was her opening monologue in which she thanked Facebook users for campaigning for her to host SNL, but then she said how lame it seems to spend an afternoon on Facebook because she couldn’t imagine passing time in the phonebook during her day. But actually, I’m sure she spent lots of time on the phone with her friends whereas now friends chat using Facebook, Twitter and text-messaging.

See all of Betty White’s SNL skits
It just goes to show that at age 88, Betty White still has an amazing sense of humor and can always be counted on to incite laughter from viewers. She was my favorite Golden Girl. She spoke my favorite line in Bringing Down the House when she said “I thought I heard Negro” in her role as the racist neighbor of Steve Martin’s character. And I just loved Betty White in her recent Snickers Super Bowl commercial.
White’s recent appearance on SNL created the show’s highest rating since Tina Fey originally mocked former U.S. vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin before the November election in 2008.
Hiphop mogul and rapper Jay-Z’s appearance may have also influenced SNL’s record viewership. He rapped some of his No. 1 hit songs from the last decade and dedicated his recent hit “Forever Young” to Betty White.

  • Tebow takes line from Jay-Z and Pharrell to address NFL critics

April 25th, 2010Teneshia LaFayeEntertainment, Gators, General, Jay-Z, Sports, Tim Tebow

Former University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow usually takes the high road and avoids controversial statements, but the outwardly religious athlete took a shot at his detractors after the Denver Broncos drafted him in the first round of the NFL Draft last week.
Tebow, who was projected to be a middle round selection because of his unpolished quarterback skills, said his critics motivated him to be one of the greatest college football quarterbacks and he plans to continue to prove detractors wrong by succeeding in the NFL.
“To all the critics. Thanks for all the motivation,” said Tebow shortly after being drafted. “It really has been a motivation for me and will continue to be.”
Tebow’s words immediately brought to mind “So Ambitious” on Jay-Z’s latest No. 1 album. In “So Ambitious”, producer Pharrell sings, “The motivation for me was them telling me what I could not be…. Hey if you believe it. Then you can conceive it.”

Tebow listened to critics say that he doesn’t have the skills to play quarterback in the NFL for the last couple years of his UF college football career, and he heard it throughout the months leading up to the draft. But he got the last laugh by being drafted in the opening round and he has the motivation to prove that he’s worthy of being a top NFL draft pick.

  • Jay-Z and Beyonce keep their distance in Cali (video), but sparks fly

If Beyonce IS pregnant, she hid it well when she entered the stage in daisy dukes and a sexy white T-shirt to sing Mr. Hudson’s chorus for her husband Jay-Z’s “Forever Young” at the recent Coachella Festival in Indio, Calif.
Jay and B also did a great job downplaying their low-key marriage. For most of the performance, the mega stars performed on opposite ends of the stage. But in the few moments they drifted near each other, they blushed and grinned to provide a glimpse into their private love for each other. Fireworks literally went off as Beyonce closed out the set, singing “forever young, I want to be forever young. Do you really want to live forever? Forever young.”

I hope Jay and B release a greatest hits album because they make great music together. I love their rap-song duets, “Bonnie and Clyde”, “Hollywood” and “Upgrade U”.

Beyonce and Jay-Z have a very good chance at a lengthy marriage because they have kept the public out of their relationship, and one of the keys to healthy matrimony is to keep marital business between you and your spouse.

  • Beyonce has new sibling, likely expecting her own baby

It’s been confirmed that Beyonce’s dad actually is the father of his former mistress’ child according to a court-ordered paternity test.
But what’s more amazing is that Beyonce may be pregnant with her first child by her husband of two years, rapper and hip-hop mogul Jay-Z.

The New York Times and The Huffington Post are piggybacking off mediatakeout.com’s claim from a “rock solid source” that B is going to be a mother bee.

I knew something was cooking, in her oven possibly, when Beyonce gave the emotional acceptance speech for Album of the Year at the recent Grammy Awards. She finally addressed Jay as her husband and professed her love. And he uncharacteristically sat on the front row during her performance and gave a giddy standing ovation.

It just seemed like a farewell for Beyonce, who has spent most of her marriage on her world tour, which may have been her farewell tour.

Earlier in her amazing career, B said she would like to retire, settle down and have kids by the time she is 30. She will be 29 this September.

  • Beyonce sets Grammys record, finally acknowledges Jay-Z as her husband, sings Alanis Morissette’s No. 1 hit

    1

    February 1st, 2010Teneshia LaFayeBeyonce, Entertainment, Jay-Z

Jay-Z and Beyonce dance around talking publicly about their eight-year relationship, but they finally acknowledged their nearly two-year marriage on music’s biggest stage, the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, on Sunday.
After winning a Grammy for Best Pop Vocalist for “Halo”, Beyonce said she wanted to thank her “family for all of their support, including my husband. I love you.” Jay-Z raised his hands in giddy astonishment from his front row seat next to their nephew, the son of Beyonce’s younger sister Solange. B must have been so smitten by Jay because she didn’t realize that it was her sixth Grammy of the night, a record for a female artist.
In 2004, Beyonce won five Grammys off her debut album to tie the previous record shared by Alicia Keys, Norah Jones and Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse and Alison Kraus.
Beyonce’s six Grammys on Sunday make her the most decorated woman in one night in the Grammys’ 52-year history. But she lost out to Taylor Swift for Album of the Year to end the night. Taylor won for her Fearless album and the 20-year-old was so surprised that she said she will tell her future grandchildren, when she’s 80, about her victory.
Beyonce won the first major Grammy of the night, Song of the Year, for co-writing “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It), which inspired men, women, children and other singers, such as Justin Timberlake and Joe Jonas, to make their own videos of her song. She wasn’t able to accept the Song of the Year award because she was backstage preparing for her performance. She marched through the audience with an all-male army and sang “If I Were a Boy”. In the middle of her song, she transitioned to Canadian singer Alanis Morissette’s 1995 No. 1 hit song, “You Ought to Know”, and then fell back to “If I Were a Boy” to end her performance.

Here’s Alanis Morisette’s performance of “You Ought to Know” at the 38th Annual Grammys.

Incidentally, Alanis Morisette became the youngest to win the Grammys’ Album of the Year until Taylor Swift’s victory Sunday night. At the time 21 years old, Alanis won for her debut album, Jagged Little Pill, which included “You Ought to Know”.
On Sunday night, Beyonce also won a Grammy for Best R&B Contemporary Album for I Am … Sasha Fierce.
Earlier in the night, Jay-Z brought his and Beyonce’s little nephew, Julez, to the stage with him and Rihanna to accept a Grammy for Best Rap/Song collaboration for “Run This Town”.

  • Beyonce and Jay-Z highest paid in 2010, but don’t give money to Haiti, dine in Paris

    2

    January 25th, 2010Teneshia LaFayeBeyonce, Entertainment, Haiti, Jay-Z

Jay-Z and Beyonce were among the musical artists to perform Friday for the “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon that raised $57 million for food, shelter, medical assistance and rebuilding efforts in Haiti, where two massive earthquakes left 100,000 dead and millions homeless and hungry.
Yet, Jay and B, Forbes magazine’s highest earning celebrity couple for the second consecutive year with a combined $122 million between June 2008 and June 2009, have not been mentioned among the celebrities that have given large contributions to Haiti.
However, celeb couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and fellow actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Sandra Bulllock each gave $1 million. Madonna, who also performed on Hope for Haiti Now, chipped in $250,000.
Brazilian model Giselle Bundchen, the highest paid supermodel last year and the new wife of NFL quarterback Tom Brady, gave a whopping $1.5 million to Haiti.
But Jay-Z and Beyonce, who secretly married in 2008 after dating on the down low for six years, have only lent their talents to raise money for Haiti. On the Haiti relief telethon Friday, Jay-Z joined Rihanna and U2’s Bono for the song “Stranded” and Beyonce sang her hit song, “Halo”, and substituted “Haiti” for “Baby” in her verses, “Baby, I can see your halo. You know you’re my saving grace”.
With Coldplay’s Chris Martin playing the piano, Beyonce sang,”You’re everything we need and more. It’s written all of your face. Haiti we can see your halo. I pray you wont fade away.”

The day after the Haiti telethon, Jay and B were photographed dining in a restaurant in Paris, and they were spotted leaving the Nice, France airport on Sunday.
While I respect they took the time to help raise money for Haiti, it would be nice to know if the power couple made any significant contributions to the hungry, homeless victims in Haiti.
Maybe, Jay-Z and Beyonce and other celebrities will step forward and give now that Haiti contributions will be tax write-offs for 2009.
To give $10 to Haiti through the American Red Cross, text HAITI to 90999 or give $5 to Haitian American artist Wyclef Jean’s non-profit Yele Haiti by texting YELE to 501501. My teen son and I each contributed to both charities.

  • Rihanna takes break from new man to help Haiti relief

    4

    January 25th, 2010Teneshia LaFayeEntertainment, Haiti, Jay-Z, Rihanna

Rihanna appears to be fully recovered from her humiliation nearly a year ago after the public found out about her physical abuse at the hands of her then-boyfriend and now ex Chris Brown.
After numerous interviews at the end of the year to help young girls learn from her experience, Rihanna used her voice to help millions of NBC viewers ring in New Year’s.

Then she spent the first couple weeks of 2010 with her new boyfriend, L.A. Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp, relaxing in Mexico and attending NBA games.
Now, the Barbados-born singer has turned her attention to the Haiti crisis, where two massive earthquakes hit earlier this month to kill an estimated 100,000 and leave millions hungry and homeless.
Appearing on The Oprah Show on Wednesday, Rihanna sang Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” to draw attention to the suffering in Haiti, which is not far from her Caribbean homeland. Rihanna’s version of the song can be purchased on Itunes, and the proceeds will go to Haiti relief.
Rihanna said Marley’s song helped her get through difficult problems in her life. Ironically, Oprah sent a message to Rihanna that “he will hit you again” when she went back to Chris Brown last February after a photo of her battered face was leaked to the media. But Oprah didn’t mention the incident when Rihanna appeared on the show Wednesday.
Then on Friday, Rihanna teamed with Jay-Z and U2’s Bono to sing “Stranded” during the networks’ “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon to raise money for Haiti relief efforts.

So Rihanna recovered from her personal pity party just in time to use her talents to lift the spirits of others.

  • MTV bans Kanye West from Haiti fundraiser, Jay-Z, Rihanna and Coldplay to headline benefit concert

    0

January 21st, 2010Teneshia LaFayeEntertainment, Haiti, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Rihanna

When Kanye West is in a music sound room, there’s no doubt he’s going to produce a No. 1 hit song for himself or another artist.
But when he steps to the microphone at a live event, there’s no telling what he’s going to say, and judging from Kanye’s history, it’s not good. Remember his 2005 Grammys acceptance speech. NBC’s Hurricane Katrina relief telethon in which he said “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.” The Taylor Swift/MTV Video Music Awards fiasco. And a few other public outbursts.
So Kanye West is being banned from joining other celebrities at 8 p.m. Eastern Friday during MTV’s “Hope For Haiti” fundraising concert to raise money for the victims in Haiti, where two massive earthquakes in less than two weeks have left millions homeless, hungry or dead.
Haitian American hip hop artisit Wyclef Jean and Oscar-winning actor George Clooney are hosting the event. Rihanna, U2’s Bono, Jay-Z, Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen are some of the dozens of big names who will perform.
Rihanna and Jay-Z will perform a new song called “Stranded”. Last year, Kanye West was making the rounds with Rihanna and Jay-Z to perform their hit song, “Run This Town”. But after Kanye’s VMA outburst, he gave a final performance with Jay-Z and Rihanna on The Jay Leno Show and announced that he would take time off to self reflect because he never properly grieved his mother’s sudden death from a botched cosmetic surgery in 2007.
So far, Kanye has kept his word and laid low.
And I think he would be a helper rather than a hindrance if he were allowed to participate in the Haiti fundraiser based on how he has kept his mouth shut for going on three months and spent the Christmas holidays serving food to L.A.’s homeless with his model girlfriend Amber Rose by his side.

  • Rihanna says “I’m a devil worshipper”, discusses Jay-Z, fascination with boobies, flirting with girls

December 27th, 2009Teneshia LaFayeChris Brown, Entertainment, Jay-Z, Rihanna

Rihanna’s good girl image has definitely gone bad.
She hoped to set an example for young women in violent relationships by leaving Chris Brown and telling her account of her abuse at the hands of the R&B singer earlier this year.
But domestic violence is the only area Rihanna, whose new album is appropriately titled Rated R, expects to be a role model.

In a recent interview with New York City radio host Angie Martinez, Rihanna opened up about her fascination with grabbing other women’s boobs, flirting and dancing with girls at clubs, getting wasted and of course Chris Brown and the old rumors of getting between Jay-Z and Beyonce.

Rihanna also addressed speculation that she is part of the Illuminati, an underground group of the world elite who worship the devil and attempt to control the world.
Rihanna just sounds like many other 21-year-old women, only her actions are under the microscope because she is a celebrity and is considered a role model to young girls, whether she likes it or not.
Listen to her no-holds barred radio interview.
