Celebrity beauty polls are foolishly overlooking 40-something Halle Berry and Janet Jackson, who have been sex symbols for a couple decades. But the sexy, legendary entertainers don’t need validation from anonymous poll voters. They are confident in their skin and recently were spotted relaxing in bikinis.
Halle, who turns 44 on August 14, recently wore a bikini top and short shorts to walk the California shoreline with her 2-year-old daughter, Nahla, and the Oscar-winning actress looked as toned and sexy as her iconic entrance from out of the ocean on James Bond movie Die Another Day in 2002.

Janet’s weight has gone up and down throughout her nearly 30-year music and acting career, but the 44-year-old pop legend was spotted in a sexy bikini relaxing in Italy with her boyfriend, a Middle Eastern millionaire businessman who is nine years younger. Halle recently ended a four-year relationship with French-Canadian model Gabriel Aubry, who is 10 years younger than her.
Halle and Janet are forcing younger women, including me, to consider getting in better shape. However, Janet doesn’t want girls to feel insecure about their bodies like she was as a young actress on the TV show Good Times, so she is working on a diet and self-esteem book to encourage girls to embrace their figure.

The prime of Lena Horne’s career was way before my time, but my teen son and I are well aware of her accomplishments because she has been a crown jewel among the Black community since the 1940s. My teenager informed me of the legendary performer’s passing at age 92 the day after she died, which happened to be my youngest son’s sixth birthday.
Marilyn Monroe, Dorothy Dandridge, Sophie Loren, Halle Berry and Beyonce have nothing on Lena Horne because she had the beauty, grace and voice to go along with her seductive, scene-stealing acting roles. Lena Horne paved the way for minority actresses, such as Dandridge and Berry, and singers, such as Alicia Keys and Beyonce. Berry acknowledged Horne during her acceptance speech when she became the first Black to win an Oscar for leading actress.

Immediately after Ms. Horne’s death, Alicia Keys credited her for opening the door for minority performers. Keys, a 12-time Grammy Award winning singer and part-time actress, was rumored to be the star of a movie tribute to Lena Horne.
I was initially exposed to Ms. Horne as a little girl and was amazed by her as the middle-aged, beautiful Glinda, The Good Witch in 1978 Wizard of Oz remake The Wiz, starring Michael Jackson and Diana Ross.

Then as a teenager, a friend of the family lent me Cabin In the Sky, one of Ms. Horne’s first movies in which she portrayed a young nightclub singer who tried to seduce a married man.

Lena Horne’s career took off in the mid 1930s in New York nightclubs and then Broadway, which led to her being brought to MGM in Hollywood to break the color barrier and become the highest paid Black actor in the 1940s. MGM funded singing tours for Horne to promote her movies and records from the movies, including her signature movie role and song “Stormy Weather”.

In the late 1940s, Lena Horne fled to Paris with her White husband because their marriage drew disdain from Blacks and Whites, but she returned to the U.S. to be a civil rights activist. She took part in the 1963 March on Washington and traveled to Mississippi to speak alongside Medgar Evers on the night he was assassinated.
Ms. Horne’s career was resurrected in 1980 with a one-year run on Broadway with an autobiographical show, Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music, that led to a Tony Award and two Grammy Awards. She made a couple public appearances in the 1990s and won a Grammy in 1996 for best vocal jazz performance. She contributed to a classic Duke Ellington album in 2000.

Lena Horne looked amazing during an appearance on The Johnny Carson Tonight Show at age 65.

So far, no one in the Black community has produced the six-decade career and carried as much lifetime beauty and grace as Lena Horne, but Beyonce, Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson have a shot.

While it’s disappointing to see Halle Berry split with yet another man, it’s not surprising.
The Oscar-winning actress and Revlon model and Gabriel Aubry, a French-Canadian model, had said they didn’t plan to marry all along and that they were just enjoying the moment together.
Their moment lasted nearly five years and produced a beautiful daughter, 2-year-old Nahla. They have a temporary custody agreement in place, and Halle expects Nahla to be her only child.
Could that be the reason the couple split? Gabriel, 34, said their nearly 10-year age difference didn’t cause him and Halle to break up. But he disclosed last year that he wants a big family, which would have been unlikely with the 43-year-old Halle who endured a geriatric pregnancy for their daughter.
But unlike her two previous marriages, Halle’s split with Gabriel was amicable. Since the news of the couple’s split, Gabriel has had nothing but good things to say about Halle. And so far, nothing has come out about Gabriel cheating on Halle as her former husbands David Justice and Eric Benet did.

Rihanna has come back badder than ever with a popular new album and she has the look that has fashion designers, magazines editors and movie studios bombarding her with offers.
I hope battered woman use the examples of Rihanna, Tina and Halle to find the strength to leave the abusive men who are trying to hold them back from their shackled great potential.

Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry has been asked how she remains so sexy and vibrant with menopause around the corner.
Two words. Gabriel Aubry.
Halle, 43, has said Gabriel, who is 10 years younger, has made her so happy in their four-year relationship. They are parents of a 22-month-old daughter, Nahla, who blends the best of her gorgeous parents’ features.

It’s become trendy for older women, which are nicknamed Cougars, to date and marry younger men. TV Land’s The Cougar is a popular reality dating show based on single young men competing for an older woman. Actors Ashton Kutcher, 31, and Demi Moore, 47, are going strong after four and a half years of marriage.
But Berry, the first black woman to win an Academy Award for Best Actress for her affair with a racist white man in Monster’s Ball, doesn’t want to ruin a good thing by marrying Aubry. The couple recently was chastized by Canadians when Gabriel had Montreal airport security whisk him and Halle past the long line in U.S. Customs.
Gabriel, a 33-year-old French-Canadian model, has been with Halle longer than her ex-husbands, former Major League Baseball player David Justice and R&B singer Eric Benet. Both men cheated on the beautiful Berry during brief marriages.

So far Gabriel, an object of lust for many women, has remained true to Halle to outlast the men in her past and treat her like the lady she is.

True Halle Berry fans know that the Academy Award winning actress is partially deaf in one ear because she was brutally beaten up by a Hollywood leading man she dated when she broke into acting in the early 1990s.
Now, the former Bond girl and X-men starlet has revealed that her white mother was abused by her black father.
Berry has been volunteering at a South Los Angeles domestic violence shelter for many years, and she is asking fans to donate money for her cause to help the shelter cope through the country’s Deep Recession.
It has long been speculated that Berry’s abuser was actor Wesley Snipes. Berry, who has been married twice, has vowed to never marry again and has a baby girl with French-Canadian model Gabriel Aubry, who she has dated for four years.

Babies used to come after marriage, nowadays celebrity couples and normal folk are starting families before nuptials and some never walk down the aisle.
Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry has no plans for a third marriage, and the former Bond girl is expecting her second child with boyfriend, French-Canadian model Gabriel Aubry. The couple has dated for nearly four years.

Aubry, who is 10 years younger than Berry, has said he wants to have a big family. He comes from a family of eight.
Ever since Halle had the couple’s first child, Nahla, nearly two years ago, Gabriel has made it known that he doesn’t want his daughter to be an only child.
“I’ve never known anybody who’s had a single child,” Gabriel has said. “I’ve always been around big families. I believe in big families.”
Halle feels the same way. She has been trying to find a mate to help her make babies ever since her second divorce with womanizing singer Eric Benet in 2004. She dumped actor Michael Ealy, her co-star in TV movie Their Eyes Were Watching God, when he refused to father her child without marriage.

Now the X-Men and Catwoman star has a willing partner, but she better hurry and get all the babies she can because the biological clock is ticking on the 43-year-old aging beauty.

Both of Halle Berry’s high profile marriages ended in divorce.
So the X-men and Catwoman star has maintained a low-key relationship with Gabriel Aubry for nearly four years, and the Oscar-winning actress doesn’t plan to marry the French-Canadian model, who is 10 years younger.


Berry, who turns 43 on Aug. 14, has a 1-year-old daughter, Nahla, with Aubry. The sexy couple prefers to focus on the present rather than getting bogged down with vows to be together forever, the actress said.
“I’m so not the relationship go-to girl,” Halle recently said. “But I’m much clearer about what a relationship is, which is why I will never marry again. Gabriel and I have a great partnership and a lovely daughter.
“But I once was stupid enough to say, in a previous relationship, ‘I’m going to be with this person forever’, and realized, as I grew, that I don’t know if forever is possible. Gabriel and I don’t look at our relationship in terms of forever, we look at it as right here today. And today means being the best people we can be, the best parents we can be. It’s wonderful, but neither one of us feels the need to attach ourselves to each other for life – because it may not be that.”
Berry could always change her marriage stance, but for now, she isn’t taking any chances to see if the third time is the charm.

Guess short hair is in for black women.
Rihanna and Cassie shaved their heads, and now Ciara has revealed her new short cut on her Twitter page.
Ciara’s new hair style is reminiscent of Halle Berry’s in the Oscar-winning actress’ 1990s movie roles, Strictly Business, Boomerang and Executive Decision.

Ciara had golden locks when she was introduced with her debut album Goodies in 2004. Then, she went with dark tresses for her sophomore album, Ciara: The Evolution.

Now midway through the release of her third album Fantasy Ride, Ciara has gone to a short cut that appears to be inspired by Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry.
Even Halle Berry, who has worn her hair long for the last couple years, has gone back to a short hairdo.

The short dos complement Halle’s and Ciara’s faces, but I hope Beyonce and Mariah Carey don’t follow this trend and keep their flowing locks.

That “Halle Berry (She’s Fine)” song is quite catchy, especially the beat. Even Halle Berry has danced to the song in her honor on national TV.
But some members of Louisiana’s state legislature weren’t amused when Hurricane Chris recently rapped about the Oscar-winning actress in the state’s House chambers.
New Orleans representative Austin Badon chastised the young rapper, whose real name is Chris Dooley Jr., for the song’s offensive and derogatory characterization of women.

Chris, a Hurricane Katrina survivor who claims to rap so fast that it’s like a hurricane blew through, said he wrote “Halle Berry” to build women’s self-esteem by expressing that there are women with various colors, shapes and features who can consider themselves as beautiful as the slender, sexy bi-racial Halle Berry, an A-list Hollywood actress and the dream girl for many black men for nearly two decades.
The song and video has started an online “Halle Berry” dance craze. Look at the “Halle Berry” video that started it all.
Chris was invited to perform for the Louisiana Legislature and his godmother Barbara Norton, a representative for Shreveport, La., presented the rapper with a House resolution for his musical achievements. Representative Badon didn’t like that Chris used the N-word and profanity throughout his “Halle Berry” song.
But the object of the song doesn’t object. Halle Berry danced alongside Ellen to the song in a March appearance on the Ellen Degeneres Show.
