\ Aretha Franklin Was Disinvited From Whitney’s Funeral | MyTenSense.com

If you watched Whitney Houston’s nearly four hour funeral service this past Saturday you probably noticed Dionne Warwick announce that Aretha Franklin was about to speak – only to be told that there was a change of plans. Aretha Franklin’s excuse for not attending the funeral was that she had “leg spasms”. However, she performed at Radio City Music Hall that same evening.

The New York Daily News is reporting that the real reason behind the 69 year-old singer’s absence at the funeral is because Whitney’s mother, Cissy Houston, banned her from attending after comments she made on a recent episode of The Today Show, where she talked about Whitney’s drug use.

“Parents have to really talk to their children before they leave home,” Aretha said on the air. “They have to make sure when they leave home, they have all the right things. She left home with all the right things, but she just kind of lost her way along the way.”

Regardless of her comments, Cissy Houston handled the situation very childishly. Even though she wasn’t please with Aretha she could have at least let her pay her last respects to her goddaughter. Cissy also treated Bobby Brown unfairly, which caused him to leave the funeral early.
