It seems Lady GaGa’s image as a gay icon is finally starting to pay off. She’s written songs, conducted interviews, and has given shout outs to her gay fans, and for that she is being honored by the LGBT community.
The Trevor Project’s will bestow Lady GaGa with the Trevor Hero Award on December 4 to reward her gay advocacy.
“Our young people are at the center of a health crisis, and vocal leaders like Lady Gaga have stepped up to the challenge of helping change our culture,” said David McFarland, interim executive director and CEO of the Trevor Project.
“Our honorees are working with the Trevor Project to make a better today and a brighter tomorrow. We are proud to honor Lady Gaga with the Trevor Hero Award for her work to encourage young people to express their true selves with pride.”
In addition to being vocal, Lady GaGa recently started the Born This Way Foundation with a mission of “youth empowerment and equality by addressing issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development and will utilize digital mobilization as a means to create positive change.”
