Americans not buying into Black Friday hype
Looking at the television news reports and newspaper headlines, you would think everybody is camping outside of Best Buy, Toys R Us and other stores to be among the first to snatch up deep discounts on Black Friday.
A prime example of media overhype.
Actually, most Americans actually are staying home in spite of the media hype surrounding the first official day of Christmas shopping, according to a new CNN Poll. So if you were feeling left out of the shopping craze, rest assured you are among the majority.
The CNN poll found that only 1 in 4 people or 23 percent are buying into Black Friday. Nearly half the 1,019 adult Americans surveyed felt the economy conditions make this holiday season more stressful than in previous years.
