Chris Brown gets a “yes!” from new “it” girl
Chris Brown needs a killer comeback album to get music fans to revert back to thinking of him as the heir to Michael Jackson’s show-stopping dance moves instead of being looked upon as a young Ike Turner, the deceased, abusive ex-husband of Tina Turner.
So the 20-year-old “Kiss Kiss†singer called on the woman who wrote chart-topping songs for Britney Spears, Timbaland, Usher, Ne-Yo and Mary J. Blige, and sexy singer/songwriter Keri Hilson agreed to write a song for Brown’s new Grafitti album.
Hilson, 26, wrote Spears’ “Gimme Moreâ€, Ne-Yo’s “Miss Independent†and Usher’s “Love in This Club†in which she appeared as the female vixen in the video.
After making so many hit songs for others, Hilson decided to focus on her own career as a performer. Her song, “Knock You Down”, featuring Kanye West and Ne-Yo, reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on R&B/Hip-Hop 100.
Here is Hilson’s “Knock You Down” video with West and Ne-Yo:
Hilson’s album, In a Perfect World, debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Top R&B/HipHop Albums, which is where Chris Brown used to be.
Brown used to be on the top of the Billboard charts with hits, such as “Run It”, “Kiss, Kiss” and “No Air” with American Idol winner Jordan Sparks.
Hilson said that Brown is one hit song away from restoring his career after damaging it from a pre-Grammys brawl with his ex Rihanna, who he faces Monday during his preliminary hearing on two felony charges for assault and criminal threats against the “Umbrella†singer.
“It is unfortunate what they are going through,†Hilson told E! Online of Brown and Rihanna. “But I always feel like if you’ve ever had a fan base, you’re really only one song away from appeasing that fan base.”
Chris Brown picked the right woman for the job.
